What is Greektoys

Greektoys is a 3d animation series for children created by Sofia Pavlaki (Producer) and Luis Santos (Director).

Story

Three toys from Ancient Greece are the main characters of the series. Valios is a little horse-toy made of clay, Lilly is a rattle and Filon is a baby’s milk bottle in a pig shape. Our little friends live adventures and travel in other countries where they meet toys of other civilizations.

Purpose

Greektoys aims to teach children in an amusing way the cultural heritage of Greece and other countries.

Planning

Episodes of the first trilogy are: “The spinning top” (already completed), “Valios in Olympic Games” (in progress), and “Kon’nichiwa Valios: Trip to Japan” (in progress).
Updates about progress of new episodes will be posted on Greektoys blog in a regular basis for Greektoys fans.

Technology

Greektoys is being created using exclusively free software. Blender, Gimp and Audacity are key programms being used, running on GNU/Linux operating system. All episodes are also available in stereoscopic format (Sebastian Schneider’s python script).

Distribution

Greektoys is an Open movie project and it will be released under the license creative commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported. Roughly, this license gives the freedom to copy, distribute, study, change and improve the movie (for non-commercial purposes, also referring to the source).

Funding

Funding will be covered by private sources, as well as by crowdfuning. For this purpose, a crowdfunding campaign will be created.
